Janet Matthews at the easelJanet’s brilliant use of coloured pencils and graphite has justifiably placed her in the forefront of artists using her chosen medium and her realistic, detailed and gentle drawings of animals and birds full of personality and humour, are keenly collected in Australia and overseas.

Janet combines both mediums to make her subjects more alive, with colour in the focal area and the surrounding details in greylead.  Recently Janet has added Watercolour to her work, with the leaves and branches of flowers painted, yet the birds, flowers and insects are created with colour pencil. Chit Chat

Where did the year go! Xmas is upon us again. And that means time off (if you are working) and more time to be creative in your art practice. Or it can be a great time to get out and about in the wonderful Australian environment and find some new inspiration. Don’t forget to check the calendar of events for January. There are so many great workshops to attend that allow you to spend time with great tutors and like minded people.

Have a lovely Xmas break and we will chat again in Feb 2010!
Teresa

I would like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas surrounded by loved ones and friends - if you can, take time to stop and spend some time in nature. As artists we all need to fill the well and this is a wonderful time of the year to do it. There won't be a newsletter in January as we will be spending time to rest and also to plan our next exciting steps for blueBanksia. Thanks for being part of our journey this year - we have appreciated your support and wonderful emails of encouragement.

Warm wishes
Stephanie
