Spend a whole week absorbed in a creative pursuit at Sturt Winter School from 5th to 9th July, 2010. A total of 14 courses are being offered and places are still available in a number of them:
Acrylic painting for beginners with Sara Farmer – begin painting with acrylics using simple compositions and developing skills in tone and volume, colour mixing and paint application, learn how to use an art diary and find your personal style. Sara Farmer is a regular exhibitor of her work and teaches both adults and children.
Clay printing techniques with Petra Svoboda – learn conventional and experimental printing techniques and handbuild items using your printed clay. Petra Svoboda is an experienced potter and sculptor with an impressive teaching background.
Pro drawing for teens with Kit Bullivant – learn techniques of professional artists using a variety of materials and challenging your powers of observation. Kit Bullivant is a practising artist and teacher of drawing, painting and communication through creativity.
Wild knitting with Loani Prior – use the iconic tea cosy to learn the wild and sculptural possibilities of knitting and learning tricks and techniques used in the art of shaping and textural moulding. Loani Prior is an avid knitter and the extremely successful author of Wild Tea Cosies and REALLY Wild Tea Cosies.
Mosaics with Ellen Nolet – learn different techniques to create an indoor wall sconce and an outdoor birdbath using vitreous glass tiles, mirror tiles, glass wishingstones, beads and found objects. Ellen Nolet is an experienced teacher of mosaics and exhibits her work regularly.
Weaving with ikat with Monique van Nieuwland – create your own ikat silk scarf, dyeing prior to weaving. Work at your own level and pace. Dyes and silk are provided. Monique van Nieuwland is a highly experienced weaver, exhibitor and teacher.

Sturt is a multi discipline centre for the promotion of contemporary Australian craft and design at Mittagong in the Southern Highlands of NSW.
