Don’t miss your chance to be part of the second annual USQ McGregor on the Bay at Fraser Coast from 18-21 September.
The long-weekend of intensive workshops is designed especially for more experienced artists wanting to brush-up on their skills in acrylic and watercolour painting, pastels and drawing.
Over the four days, participants will learn and create alongside six of the nation’s leading artists.
Each tutor brings with them, a wealth of wisdom and practical experience.
Melbourne artists, Herman Pekel and Ross Paterson will present classes in water-based mediums; acrylics and watercolours specifically.
A full-time painter since 1987, Herman has a wealth of experience with water-based mediums, having won numerous awards and presented over 15 solo exhibitions.
His class will make the most of the picturesque surroundings of the whale-watching capital, exploring landscapes, seascapes, interiors, street and urban scenes.
A professional artist-teacher with over 40 year’s experience, Ross is constantly in demand for his tutorials throughout Australia and New Zealand.
He is highly respected for his unique painting abilities in virtually all mediums, particularly watercolour, oil and pastel.
Ross’ Watercolour Techniques workshop promises to be well-structured, concise and generous.
Other new tutors include Brisbane master pastellist, Penelope Gilbert-Ng and NSW artist, Keith Norris.
Penelope is a master Pastellist with the pastel Society of Australia and loves to generously share her knowledge of this beautiful and flexible medium.
Her Dramatic Pastels workshop will encompass still life, figurative genre and portraiture, focusing on creating strong design in an understanding of shape, tone, edges and colour relationships.
Regarded as one of Australia’s finest pen and ink artists, Keith works in all mediums, particularly excelling in draftsmanship.
His non-threatening, fun workshop will explore the many necessary techniques used to draw well and with confidence including tone, light and shade, composition, portraiture and a thorough knowledge of perspective.
Charismatic Queensland painter, Donald James Waters and Grafton artist, Lyn Butchart return with classes in Acrylics and Charcoal and Watercolours respectively.
Just as popular in their second year, Donald’s class is full and only very limited places remain in Lyn’s class.
One of Australia’s finest watercolour and pastel artists, Lyn Butchart has been a tutor and professional artist for over thirty years.
She undertakes some of the largest watercolours in Australia and overseas and is renowned for her use of vibrant colours and textures.
The four-day intensive workshops will run from 18-21 September at USQ’s Fraser Coast campus in Hervey Bay.
