a new concept in jewellery making!

Enter the world of the alchemist, melting and joining materials to create your own unique jewellery. Under Sondi's knowledgeable eye, join 4-5 people to learn about jewellery making. No previous experience is necessary.
Weekend workshops are held in the bush studio in Wentworth Falls in the spectacular Blue Mountains. You will gain a range of skills, including sawing, filing, wire work, hammering and soldering. Participants will make a silver ring on the first day, and a piece of their choice on the second day-for eg: a brooch or a pendant, leaving with professionally finished pieces of jewellery.
Sondi specialises in mokumé gane, and her custom-made jewellery is well-loved and collected not only by Blue Mountains cognoscenti but by lovers of beautiful contemporary jewellery Australia-wide. Her work is carried by, Katoomba Fine Arts and recently, her work has been published in the book 500 Brooches.
After the workshop, you will still have time to explore the Blue Mountains, perhaps staying in one of the many B&Bs in the area.

Colour and Light in Oils
Often seen as dark and gloomy, oils can, in fact, be used to create colourful and light paintings that are wonderfully expressive. One significant characteristic of oil paint is its richness and depth of colour, something that is of particular interest to Nicholas Verrall. Immediately striking in all his pictures is the skilful way he handles colour to interpret the special qualities of light and mood found in a certain moment in time.

The Oil Painting Book: Materials and Techniques for Today's Artist
This reference to painting with oils compares leading brands of paints. It describes mediums, solvents and varnishes; illustrates brushes, pallettes and other tools; and shows both traditional and unconventional techniques.
